Global Health Elective with Residents in Kenya

Pediatric/EM/IM residents during their training are given a unique opportunity to travel to Africa and join Maseno University School of Medicine in Kisumu, Kenya, to participate in clinical and educational exchange on a 4 week call-free elective block.

This opportunity allows residents to gain exposure to tropical medicine, explore global health issues, understand different models of practice and health systems, enhance teaching skills and collaboration across cultures.

Here are some of many quotes from our residents!

Once in a lifetime experience!
Going Kenya gives you a new appreciation for the resources we have available here in the US.

The appreciation showed by both patients and students for your help is beyond rewarding.

If you are considering to incorporate global health into you future practices, the Kenya experience will really give you the hands on clinical experience you need and also show you the intricacies involved in a global health program.

My experience traveling to Kenya was something I would never trade for the world. Getting to not only experience the culture of Kenya but also diving in and experiencing their medical field was incredible!
