Clinical Research Associate II

Job Description: Coordinate various research trials for the Institute for Global Health, including early or late phase FDA-regulated trials, and ensure compliance with federal guidelines. Interact and correspond with clinicians, sponsors, cooperative groups, Upstate’s Institutional Review Board and regulatory agencies. Enroll, register and screen patients for clinical research trials; collect and submit clinical trial patient data. Perform various administrative duties, which may include proper collection and shipment of lab samples; billing support; maintenance of clinical research study supplies and drug accountability.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, experience with clinical research protocols, knowledge of medical terminology, computer skills, and good written/oral communication and organizational skills required.

Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant

Job Description: The Institute for Global Health and Translational Science at SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner to apply medical knowledge and experience, under the direction of the principal investigator to oversee and direct clinical course of adult research participants in complex, Phase I – III clinical trials. Must be licensed and credentialed to see patients, conduct history and physicals, conduct medical evaluations of adverse events, and consult with other health care providers. Assess physical health and administer investigational products throughout the study aligned with scope of practice and delegated responsibilities. Oversee study conduct and assure study participant safety and work with clinical research coordinators on reporting of accurate data.

The Nurse Practitioner maintains activities related to the conduct of clinical trials under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator/M.D.

Minimum Qualifications: NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Physician Assistant and current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice also required. Current CPR Certification required at the time of appointment.
